河床にこぼれた小さな命の素。
いや、既に立派な生命なんだけど、
つまり魚の卵を必死にマクロレンズで覗いていた秋を思い出した
寒空の朝。

今頃ふ化をして、寒い川底。
ちいさな尻尾で、じーっとしているんだろうな。

傷だらけの雄鮭たち。

シロザケ撮影遠征から東京の自宅に戻りました。
道東、羅臼でのシロザケの遡上量は、今年極めて少なく
非常に苦しみましたが、多くの方々の援けを得て
なんとかいくつかのカットを撮影することができました。
I was back from Salmon-photographing-trip in eastern Hokkaido.
This year's salmon run is very small.
so I suffered from this bad condition in the rivers.
But, I enjoyed new vision -underwater- of nature photography.
thanks my friends which gave me great chance such this time.

【イベント】第14回 小中一貫教育全国サミット

今日はちょっとしたお知らせです。
直前になりますが、11月の7、8日、大阪府堺市で催される
「第14回　小中一貫教育全国サミット」。
全国の教育関係者が参加するイベントですが、
この度行われる公開授業でのカリキュラムに
6年生の道徳の教科書（光村図書出版）に掲載いただいている
「命の旅」が使用されることになりました。

多くの教育関係者の方の目に触れる
私にとってとても嬉しい機会になると思います。

鮭のいない川。

初回のシロザケ撮影遠征も終盤。
川に魚がいない。
特に撮影地に選んでいた羅臼は今年本当に少なく
まずは魚を探すのに行ったり来たり。
冬タイヤ減りまくりだぜ。笑）
I've stayed at Rausu for a long time.
to photograph Japanese-Salmon-Run.


サケの遡上に関しては、ここ数年の動向を見ていて
大きな変化を感じる。
僕等の孫の世代が大人になる頃、彼等の子どもたちに
鮭の群れを見せることが難しくなっているかも知れない。
そんなこともありうるなと不吉に思う。

But, in Rausu, very few salmon in the stream.
I don't know what happening to the nature.
Something like nature system, are changing in these several years.
hope huge number of salmon come, at the next year.

クマと同じように、人の食性も変わっていくのかな。
その流れの速さは、人間一人の目線で見れば緩やかだが、自然界で見れば極めて速い。
先人たちの積み重ねた知見が、追いつかなくなってきている。

とにかく、俺はサケが好きだから、杞憂に終わってほしい。
来年はたくさん遡上してくれますように。

砂利の間から、はらはらと零れ落ちていく卵。
マクロレンズで覗くと、狙っていたのか小さな魚と目が合った。
近くにはカモメが待ち構えている。

この卵は、きっと生まれてそう時間は経っていないだろう。
でも驚いたことに、覗いているとくるりと中でうごめく気配がした。

劇的な瞬間ではなく、ありふれた自然の現象こそが、僕を感動させる。
今日この日も、いったい、何万個、何十万個の卵が同じようにうごめいているだろう。

冷たい風が吹く川のほとりで、僕は一人静かに感動していた。
サケの遡上に魅せられて通い始めた北海道。
今同じ命の営みを、違った視線で眺めていられることに幸せを感じています。
ありがとう。

このエリアはクマが出ないのが今回ばかりは有難い。

羅臼の川から離れて、道東エリアの小河川にいます。
それにしても、う～ん…。
水中の撮影って難しいね。改めて。
みんなすごいなぁ…。

道東に撮影に来ています。
被写体は鮭。ところが当初予定していた撮影地では
びっくりするほど魚がいなくて大苦戦…。
たくさんの方に助けていただき、少しずつですが前進しています。
とはいえ、状況は厳しい…。
さてさて、どうなることやら…。
I'm in eastern Hokkaido for photographing salmon in river.
But very few fish in my favourite streams.
It makes me change the plan. very hard for me.
can I do the work in this travel...?

奥会津に思う冬。

今一番、会いたい人、撮りたい人。

…夏も終わって冬を意識し始める。
今年の撮影活動は、彼の猟についていくことから始まった。
奥会津のマタギ、昭夫さん。
ご迷惑をかけながら、写真以上に、たくさんの大切な経験をいただいた。
MATAGI -Japanese hunter with traditional style-, Mr. Akio Inomata.
He showed me the beauty of japanese nature, and strength of the people who living with this severe nature.
He's a great naturalist. I want to chase and photograph him for many years.
Thanks for giving this great chance.

烏賊と定置網漁。

6年前の水揚げ。
羅臼では、たくさんの烏賊が獲れていた。
海に出た多くの烏賊釣り漁船が、
煌々と羅臼を照らしていたのを思い出す。

several years ago, many squid came to this Nemuro Strait.
How's this year?
Nature changes always.

今はどうだろう。獲るとらないだけではなくて、
もっと大きなうねりがあるような気する。
不変だと思っていた自然。でも実は、常に変わっていくんだなと。
昔の写真を見返して、そんな風に感じることもある。

山小屋で。

ようやく東京に戻りました。
中央アルプスでのロケから、北アルプスの取材へ。
連続して山小屋にお世話に。
came back from travelling in Japanese Alps for some works as a photographer.
stayed at famous mountain lodges, it was quite interesting experience for me.
the landscapes, walkig-days without shower,
and kindness and calm of people who lives in the mountain.

8月29日。羅臼を去る数時間前に、
ようやく河川に入っているカラフトマスの姿を確認した。
この写真も濁りが強いけど、きっとこの雨が呼び水になったのだろう。
This year's Pink-Salmon-run must be very small.
the last day which I stay in Rausu, I could see few Pink salmons in the stream, finally.
I hope many salmon come back.
for their lives, and for other beautiful nature lives.

羅臼の宿から。

今日は、海の上に淡く虹が出ていました。

羅臼に滞在しています。
昨年に引き続き、再び知床半島先端部へのカヤック行を
計画していたのですが、低気圧の通過を伴う荒天で出発を延期。
4日間停滞して、ようやく明日、出発の予定です。
now I stay at Rausu, Shiretoko Hokkaido.
for photographing Shiretoko Peninsula with kayaking.
And now waiting for the storm's leave.
spent 4 days, and maybe tomorrow...
