待ち遠しい冬景色。

さてさて。早いもので、もう一月も中旬ですね。
こちら道東は冬本番。僕たちは初めての北国の冬を迎えています。

朝は何もかもがすっかり冷え切って、車のエンジンもなかなかかかりません。
近所の川でも、‘けあらし’を見ることができます。氷点下20℃という数字も、見慣れてきました。
そろそろ流氷が…なんて思ってはいるのですが、もう間もなくかな…？

Now I'm in mid-winter in Japanese northernmost area Hokkaido.
In early morning, you can see white frozen blanches of tree and vapor from streams.
Everything is freezing, even in city.

というわけで、ちょいと網走まで足を延ばしてきました。
海沿いにある小さなカフェで、あたたかいコーヒーをいただきます。
お店の中は暖炉もあって ぬくぬく でした。

We went out and visited the city Abashiri which faces ocean.
Every winter, huge amount of drift ice come from Russian sea.
We call this "RyuHyo". (流氷)

流氷はまだですね…。
けど、流氷が入ってきたらここはさぞかし眺めのいい席だろうなぁと思います。
昨日だったか、初観測はあったようですけれども。今年は早いみたい。

However, the drift ice had not come yet.
We just enjoyed one cup of coffee with white landscape at small cafe.

網走湖もすっかり雪原に。点々とのびていくキツネの足跡がかわいい。
写真には写っていないけど、ワカサギ釣りのテントがたくさんありました。
僕もやりたかったのですが、yomeが風邪気味なので、お預けです。

On the way back, we stopped at lakeside.
Lake Abashiri had completly frozen, and it has become white prairie.
You can see small footprints of wild fox on the white land.

帰り道にオオワシを見ることができました。
オジロは夏の知床でも姿を目にするけど、オオワシはいません。
だからyomeには初めてのオオワシ。僕も遠くに見ただけだったので、2人で大興奮です。
珍しくもなんともないのだろうけど、動物好きには嬉しいものです。

Finally we encountered Steller's sea eagle.
Big bird, its great wildlife.
Before move to Hokkaido, when we were traveller,
we only know about Summer & Autumn.
Steller's sea eagle comes to Hokkaido only in winter from Russia.
So,this year is first chance to see them for us.


毎年9月に知床へと通っていて、見たいけど今まで見ることができなかった冬景色。
それは流氷の上を飛ぶオオワシです。今年は見ることができそうで、今から楽しみです。
